Scholarships for Sports Management Students

A passion for sports and business are both necessary qualities you should possess if you want to succeed in a sports management career. Knowledge and experience in the sports world are almost as important as your education. Finding a school with connections in the sports industry is important, especially when it comes to internships. Obtaining a sports management degree can be very expensive, but there are scholarships and grants available. If you've chosen your school already their financial aid office will have information on scholarships available to you. Many scholarships are specific to a school; like the Don and Daughn Sawyer Memorial Transfer Scholarship for undergraduate transfer students going to Indiana State University, and the Monty Woods Memorial Scholarship at Ohio University.

Additional Sports Management Scholarships

The Institute of Sports Management (ISM) has two different scholarship programs, but you will need to be a member to qualify. The first scholarship is the Additional Study Scholarship; this scholarship provides assistance to individuals seeking to enhance their studies in sports management or related fields. The second is the ISM Pathways Salary Subsidy Scholarship and it is for students who are looking for a job with one of the employers, they then "sponsor" the student. Other scholarships you will want to look into are as follows: Dorothy Harris Endowed Scholarship, Black Coaches Association Scholarship and the Jim McKay Scholarship Program.

You will also want to pursue general scholarships as well; these are scholarships that are not based on any specific degree.
